Just in time for Halloween - Added two pumpkin designs to the ComboMaker.
Wow, I can't believe it has been almost 2 years since our last news update. Oops. :-) You may have noticed that our site looks completely different. We have been working on a new responsive layout for months. (Since last year actually). There was 10 years worth of code to convert. Some of the weaker features/experiments have been removed, like the template maker. And the font color tester died when our 3rd party's font API went kaput. We are putting out this latest update now in response to Google's impending index changes. There will be bugs and we hope to fix those as soon as possible. The site should work much better on mobile devices now. If you find issues please let us know at robert@colorcombos.com.
Also, recently we acquired ColorSchemes.com. How cool is that? :-)
Added the Font Color Tester tool. It is in Alpha shape for now.
ColorCombos has teamed up with Hello Font to add a Font Color section to the View Combos page. You can see an example here. Each font image links to the Hello Font landing page for purchase.

The ColorCombos template is getting old. So I started a template design contest over at DesignOutpost. If you are an artist and would like to compete, you can find it here. Tell all of your designer friends!
I started a new blog a few weeks ago. So far my main subject has been domain names.
Here's a new service you might find useful. It is called PickyDomains. Instead of paying thousands of dollars for a domain name, you pay $50 and let their domain namers come up with ideas for you. I plan on giving it a try real soon.
I turned the Color Combos Library hex colors into links. Now you can click on the individual hex color links and it will take you to the Color Combo Tester page.
A couple of weeks ago I turned off the Forum. The spam accounts became too much. Tonight I got rid of the tab once and for all.
A few weeks ago I got an email from the editor of Practical Web Design magazine in the UK. ColorCombos was awarded their star site award in the February Issue. Here's a link to a PDF of the page. It felt great showing the magazine to everyone at work. Now, if I can just get one of my sites profiled in a newspaper OR a podcast OR on television like one of my friends did...
Squidoo opened up to the public this week. I created my first "lens", about Color Combinations, of course. You can find it here - Color Combinations All lens are a work in progress. I hope to add more valuable color resources as time goes on.
I demoted the Make Template link on the Color Combo Tester to the Options dropdown and moved the Get the Link option alongside of the Add Column link.
I added the FeedBlitz email signup box to the sidebar. Now you can get the Latest Color Combinations by Email and RSS.
I finally added an RSS feed! Now you can subscribe to a feed that contains the latest Color Combinations added to the library. Click on the XML icon above. This will take you to the Feedburner site where you can subscribe.
I finally updated the Grab Color page so that it can now Grab Website Colors inside of linked css files, along with import files. It isn't perfect, but at least now it can Grab Website Colors from pages like simplebits.com and meyerweb.com.
We are proud to announce that we have installed the latest version of ColourMod. This tool is used as the color selector for our Color Combo Tester page. The new version is faster and looks stunning. It pops up within the current browser window, which should get rid of the issue with popup blockers. Lastly, you can click and drag it around. Check it out. Thanks to Stephen at ColourMod for writing it AND helping us with the installation.
We added another great new feature to the Color Combo Tester page Now you can select 'Get Complementary Colors' from the Other Options dropdown menu. This takes you to a screen which lets you choose which color to base the complementary colors on. By clicking on one of the colors you are taken back to the Color Combo Tester to view the results. Enjoy.
I added a new feature to the Color Combo Tester called 'Grab Website Colors'. You can get to the page by using the Other Options dropdown on the Color Combo Tester page or by going here. You simply enter a URL and the site attempts to grab all of the hex colors found at that address. The script is not smart enough yet to parse out values found in the include files, but I hope to add that soon. This is probably the most useful feature I've added to date.
The other day I saw this image on Yahoo. So I took samples using Nattyware's Pixie and created this Combo. I thought it turned out ok.

Improved the Color Combos Library Search. Now you can use color tags to search the Color Combos Library. For example, you can search for all combos that contain purple. You can even use multiple color names (separated by a comma) to narrow down your search.
